CHASS | Changanacherry Social Service Society
Started in the year 1977, CHASS has been running institutions for training cum production/ rural employment in collaboration with the Government under the provisions of Khadi & Village Industries Commission by catering 200 stipendiary trainees at a time and an equal number of artisan/ regular employees.
Training sector
The full-fledged training centre at Mallappally started under the programme in the year 1986 attained a higher status as ‘Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya’ with allocations for regular training courses. In addition an extension-training centre has been set up at Kottackapuram in 1999. The following table would give particulars of the training schedule for the reporting year.

Production Sector
The production activities carried out under the Village Industries head are carpentry, blacksmithy, honey processing, oil extraction, cane & bamboo works, soap making, bakery, fruit & vegetable preservation etc.. A total number of 110 artisans are working in these units. The production units as well as furniture showrooms are located at Kurumpandam, Pallikoottumma, Mammood, Pallom and Kottackapuram.
