Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) encompasses various strategies and measures aimed at preventing or mitigating the impact of disasters, as well as enhancing preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. It’s clear that disaster management is a critical aspect of development in Kerala, given its susceptibility to various natural disasters. For CHASS, which focuses predominantly on the disaster-prone Kuttanad region, disaster management becomes even more crucial. By incorporating multi-disciplinary approaches across all sectors of development, CHASS can better address the diverse challenges posed by floods, droughts, cyclones, earthquakes, and landslides in Kerala. This holistic approach not only aims to conserve lives and property but also contributes to sustainable development by minimising the impact of disasters on communities and infrastructure.
